Age Limit
Age is calculated as on 1 July 2026. The upper age limit (superannuation age) for the post is 62 years. Selected candidates for the Assistant Professor posts will receive salary according to Pay Level-10. Application Fee
Candidates applying for the UPESSC Assistant Professor Selection Exam 2026 have to pay the examination fee according to their category. Category: Application Fee General/Unreserved/OBC/EWS and others: Rs. 2,000 SC/ST: Rs. 1,500 PwD (Divyangjan): Rs. 1,000 Fee can be paid online via Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking, immediately after registration, through the payment gateway on the portal. Payment confirmation from the bank is required for the fee to be considered valid; the fee once paid is non-refundable and non-adjustable against any other application, even if the application contains an error.
Selection Process
Selection for UPESSC Assistant Professor posts is based on a merit list prepared from a 360-mark written examination and a 40-mark interview. • The written examination consists of 120 objective-type (multiple-choice) questions - 30 questions on General Knowledge and 90 questions on the relevant subject. • Duration of the written examination is 2 hours. • Each correct answer carries 3 marks; 1 mark is deducted for a wrong answer or multiple answers marked for a single question (negative marking). • Candidates are shortlisted for interview based on written examination marks; being called for interview or merely appearing in/passing the written exam does not by itself entitle a candidate to final selection. • In case of a tie in merit, precedence is given first to higher written exam marks, then interview marks, then the highest percentage in the essential qualification/PhD-JRF-NET combination as specified, and finally to the older candidate (higher age). • College allotment/preference (Adhikaranata) for appointment is decided by the Director of Higher Education, Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj.
How to Apply
• Visit the official UPESSC website, upessc.up.gov.in. • Complete One Time Registration (OTR) - mandatory before applying; no other mode of application is accepted. • Refer to the Hindi/English User Manual and tutorial videos available on the website before applying. • Fill the online application form carefully - category, sub-category, date of birth, and gender cannot be changed after final submission. • Upload a scanned signature (10–200 KB, JPG/JPEG, white background, 140×110 pixels) and a passport-size photo (30–300 KB, 300–600 pixel resolution). • Upload all required certificates/documents in PDF format, each between 50 KB and 500 KB. • Pay the applicable application fee online after completing the form. • Submit the application before the last date for fee payment, 7 October 2026; corrections (where permitted) can be made until 11 October 2026.

Important Instructions
