Selection to the post of Anganwadi Karyakatri is made on the basis of merit and a defined order of priority for candidates residing in the same Gram Sabha/Ward as the vacant post: • Widow of a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family residing in the same Gram Sabha/Ward. • Divorced or deserted woman of a BPL family, residing in the same Gram Sabha/Ward. • Any other woman of a BPL family in the same Gram Sabha/Ward, if no widow/divorced/deserted candidate from a BPL family is available. • If no eligible BPL-family candidate is found, the following priority order applies among Above Poverty Line (APL) family candidates in the same Gram Sabha/Ward: (a) Widow, (b) Divorced/deserted woman, (c) Any other woman of an APL family. • If no eligible candidate is available in any of the above categories within the same Gram Sabha, selection will be made from the neighbouring Gram Panchayat within the same Nyaya Panchayat, following the same order of priority.
