Salary
Selected candidates will be appointed to Group 'B' posts in Pay Level-6 of the Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a pay scale of ₹35,400 – ₹112,400. Actual in-hand salary will also include applicable allowances (such as DA, HRA and TA) as per the rules of the respective recruiting organization, which are not detailed in this notice.

Selection Process
Selection for SSC JE 2026 is based on the following stages: • Paper-I (Computer Based Examination) – Qualifying in nature. Covers General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 questions/50 marks), General Awareness (50 questions/50 marks), and the relevant engineering/technical subject based on the post applied for (100 questions/100 marks). Total duration is 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for candidates eligible for a scribe). Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer. • Paper-II (Computer Based Examination) – For candidates shortlisted from Paper-I. Covers the relevant engineering/technical subject in depth (100 questions/300 marks) in 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). Negative marking of 1 mark applies for each wrong answer. • Document Verification (DV) – Provisionally selected candidates must produce original certificates (educational qualification, category, age proof, experience, etc.) for verification by the concerned user department/organization. • Physical Standards and Medical Examination – Applicable specifically for posts under organizations such as Border Roads Organisation (BRO)/GREF, as detailed in the relevant annexure of the notice. Separate merit lists are prepared for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), Scientific Assistant (IMD), and JE (Telecom). Both papers consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions set in Hindi and English.
