Eligibility is prescribed as per Para 3(vii) of Master Circular No. 7, dated 13.12.2019, and covers both educational and cultural qualifications.
Age Limit
Candidates should be aged between 18 and 30 years as on 01.01.2027 - that is, born not earlier than 01.01.1997 and not later than 01.01.2009 (both dates inclusive). Once entered in the recruitment records, the date of birth cannot be changed on any grounds. Category: Relaxation OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years SC/ST: 5 years Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 10 years, provided the post is identified as suitable for PwBD Ex-Servicemen: Relaxable up to the extent of service rendered in defence plus 3 years, provided more than 6 months' service after attestation Serving Railway staff / casual labour / substitutes: Up to 40 years (UR), 43 years (OBC), 45 years (SC/ST), subject to minimum 3 years' service Staff in Quasi-Administrative Railway offices (Canteens, Co-operative Societies, Institutes): Up to length of service rendered, subject to a maximum of 5 years Widows/Divorced/Judicially separated women (not remarried): Up to 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST) Persons domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir (1 Jan 1980 – 31 Dec 1989): Up to 5 years
Selection Process
Eligible candidates are assessed on the basis of a Written Test and an Assessment of Talent, totalling 100 marks. Component: Details | Marks Written Test: 50 objective-type, multiple-choice questions covering General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence, Reasoning, and General Knowledge on Cultural Activities/Cultural Area. Bilingual (Hindi & English); candidates may attempt in either language. Duration: 60 minutes. | 50 Assessment of Talent - Practical Demonstration: Based on practical demonstration in the relevant cultural stream (Sitar/Tabla) | 35 Assessment of Talent - Testimonials/Prizes: Based on testimonials, prizes, etc. as declared in Annexure-G | 15 Total: 100 The Written Test carries negative marking: 1/3rd of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for every wrong answer. Only candidates who qualify in the Written Test will be called for Practical Demonstration. Selected candidates will have to pass the requisite medical examination and, where prescribed, complete initial training before posting.
How to Apply
• Visit the RRC website, www.rrcpryj.org. • Click on the Cultural Quota (02/2026) link. • Click on the Online/E-Application link. • Click on "New Registration" and proceed. • Fill in basic details - Name, Father's Name, Aadhaar No., email address and mobile number, etc. • After receiving the Registration Number and Password, log in via "Applicant Login." • Follow the step-by-step instructions and select the Post/Category as per the notification. • Fill in further details in the Applicant Portal - educational/cultural qualification, community, etc. • Pay the examination fee (as applicable) online via Credit/Debit Card, UPI, Internet Banking or other available modes. • Upload a scanned colour photograph (3.5cm x 3.5cm, JPEG format, 20–30 KB). • Upload a scanned signature (in English or Hindi, JPEG format, 10–15 KB). • Upload age-proof certificate (PDF format, 50–150 KB, 150 DPI). • Upload the cultural qualification certificate (PDF format, 50–150 KB, 150 DPI). • SC/ST candidates should upload their certificate (PDF, 100–200 KB) to avail relaxation and free travel authority (Second Class Railway Pass). • Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Minority/EBC candidates should upload relevant certificates (PDF, 100–200 KB) to avail applicable relaxation. • Submit the application and print the acknowledgement for your records. No physical copy of the application needs to be sent to RRC. Only online mode is accepted - no other mode of submission is allowed.
Required Documents
• Scanned proof of Date of Birth (10th/Matriculation certificate, equivalent educational certificate, or birth certificate issued by a competent authority). • Scanned copy of the prescribed essential minimum educational qualification marksheet/certificate. • Certificate(s) of the specified cultural qualification (Sitar/Tabla, as applicable). • SC/ST certificate issued by a competent authority (Annexure-A), for availing relaxation and free Second Class Railway Pass travel facility. • Relevant certificate for Ex-Servicemen/PwBD/Minorities/EBC candidates claiming age or fee relaxation. • Caste certificate on the prescribed Central Government format for SC/ST/OBC candidates (with non-creamy layer certificate for OBC, valid for 2026-27, issued on or after 01.04.2026). • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer, for serving Railway/Quasi-Administrative office employees. • Annexure-G, duly filled and signed, detailing awards, prizes and cultural performance experience. • Income & Asset Certificate as per Annexure-F, for candidates claiming EWS status (family income below Rs. 8 lakh, subject to the asset conditions listed in the notification).
Important Instructions
• Candidates must ensure they fulfil all eligibility conditions before applying; false, incorrect or suppressed information will lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage, without notice. • Candidates awaiting final exam results are not eligible to apply. • Candidates debarred (for life or for an unexpired specified period) from RRB/RRC examinations must not apply. • Selection by RRC/NCR does not confer any right of appointment in the Railway. • Emoluments on initial appointment will be the minimum pay of the Level plus applicable allowances; only stipend is paid during the training period. • Free Second-Class Railway Pass is issued to SC/ST candidates called for the Written Examination/Document Verification, on submission of a valid caste certificate. • Selected candidates may be posted anywhere as per administrative requirements and utilised for cultural activities/events as well as their regular post duties. • Name, Father's Name and Date of Birth in the application must exactly match the Matriculation certificate; any mismatch found at Document Verification leads to cancellation and debarment. • Impersonation, suppression of facts, or submission of forged certificates leads to rejection, debarment from all RRB/RRC examinations, and possible legal action. • Candidates selected as Clerk cum Typist must acquire the prescribed typing speed within 2 years of appointment (maximum 3 chances), failing which their services will be terminated. • Provisions of the Public Exam…
