Age Limit
The upper age limit for NIOT Technician Recruitment 2026 is not exceeding 25 years, reckoned as on the closing date for online application. As the post is earmarked Unreserved, no age relaxation is available to SC/ST/OBC candidates. However, age relaxation is applicable for Government servants, Ex-servicemen, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) as per Central Government orders in force from time to time.
Salary
Selected candidates will be placed at Pay Level-2 (Rs. 19,900–63,200) in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (VII CPC), under Group 'C', along with allowances as admissible under VII CPC.
Selection Process
Selection for the NIOT Technician post involves two stages: • Trade / Written Test: Final selection is based purely on the order of merit in the trade/written test marks, among candidates who qualify the skill test. • Skill Test: A practical test of qualifying nature. Candidates must secure the minimum cut-off mark fixed by the Selection Committee to qualify. Both the trade/written test and skill test will be conducted at NIOT, Chennai, either on the same day or on consecutive days. The syllabus, scheme of test, and schedule will be published on the NIOT website. Candidates must make their own arrangements for travel and stay, and no TA will be paid, except outstation SC/ST candidates, who will be reimbursed sleeper-class rail fare by the shortest route on production of tickets. Before the test stage, applications go through a preliminary screening based on essential qualification, date of birth (after applicable age relaxation), completeness of the application and uploaded documents, and desirable experience. NIOT may further shortlist candidates for the test through cut-off marks, experience criteria, or a written test if the number of applications is large.
