Vacancy Details
A total of 560 posts of Medical & Health Officer-I are being filled, inclusive of backlog vacancies. The category-wise breakup, including women's reservation within each category, is given below. Category: Total Posts | Reserved for Women (RFW) Open (Unreserved): 316 | 95 OBC/MOBC: 140 | 42 SC: 23 | 7 ST (Plains) – STP: 58 | 17 ST (Hills) – STH: 23 | 7 Grand Total: 560 | 168 In addition, 22 posts (4% of total) are horizontally reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), and 11 posts are reserved for Ex-servicemen, both within the overall 560 vacancies. PwBD Category: Posts Reserved Low Vision and Blind (with aids): 7 Hearing Handicapped (with aids): 7 Locomotor Disability / Orthopedically Handicapped (at least one arm and both legs): 8 Total PwBD Posts: 22 The notification states that the actual number of posts, including the reservation breakup, may vary as per requirement in due course, and any change will be intimated before the date of interview/examination.
Eligibility
• The candidate must have Indian citizenship as defined under Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India. • Government doctors already serving under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Directorate of Health Services (DHS), National Health Mission (NHM), Assam, or other Government of Assam agencies are eligible to apply, and no separate No Objection Certificate (NOC) is required from them to apply. • Candidates already employed in Corporations/Boards or in private employment may apply with intimation to their present employer, and must produce an NOC from their employer at the time of document verification/interview.
Age Limit
As on 01.01.2026, a candidate should not be less than 21 years and not more than 38 years of age, as per Government Notification AAP.115/72/Pt.I/194 dated 10.03.2008. The upper age limit is relaxable for candidates of reserved categories as per existing provisions/extant rules; specific relaxation figures by category are not specified in the notification. Salary
Selected candidates will draw pay in the scale of Rs. 30,000 – Rs. 1,10,000 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 12,700, along with other allowances admissible under the Rules of the Government of Assam. Government servants joining service on or after 1st February 2005 will be governed by the New Pension Scheme 2005 rather than the Assam Service (Pension) Rules, 1969.
