Eligibility
• Rural Home Guard: The candidate must be a permanent resident of the same block in Deoghar district from which they are applying, supported by a self-attested residence certificate issued by the competent authority. • Urban Home Guard: The candidate must be an ordinary resident of the urban area of Deoghar district, supported by a self-attested residence certificate issued by the competent authority.
Age Limit
Candidates must be between 19 and 40 years of age as on 01.01.2026 for both Rural and Urban Home Guard posts. The notification does not specify any separate upper age relaxation for reserved categories. Salary
As stated explicitly in the notification, this is a voluntary enrolment and not a salaried government post. There is no fixed monthly salary. Enrolled Home Guards receive a duty allowance at rates fixed by the government, paid only for the number of days they are actually deployed on duty as required.
Application Fee

Selection Process
Selection is conducted as per the Home Department, Government of Jharkhand notification No. 5442 dated 20.10.2014, through the following stages: • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Comprising a 1-mile race, high jump, long jump, and shot put, with marks awarded on a sliding scale for each event. Separate scoring standards apply for (i) Rural and Non-Technical Urban candidates, and (ii) Technically skilled Urban candidates, with separate benchmarks for male and female candidates in each. • Hindi Writing Ability Test: Qualifying in nature, for candidates who clear the PET. Rural candidates are tested at a 7th-class level and Urban candidates at a 10th-class level. Full marks: 100; qualifying marks: 30. • Technical Skill Test: Applicable only to technically skilled Urban Home Guard candidates who clear the PET and Hindi Writing Test. Qualifying in nature. Full marks: 100; qualifying marks: 30. • Merit List, Document Verification, Medical Examination & Police Verification: A merit list is prepared based on the notified provisions after all tests are completed, and selection is made against available vacancies. Selected candidates' certificates, medical fitness, and police character verification are checked before appointment. • Basic Training & Enrolment: Selected candidates undergo basic Home Guard training on the orders of JGRV Headquarters, Ranchi. On successful completion of training, they are formally enrolled as Home Guards and issued an enrolment certificate.

Important Instructions
