Eligibility
Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the date of Walk-in-Interview. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. Candidates must bring duly filled application form along with requisite fee and testimonials to the Establishment Branch-II, Block-D, GMCH-32, Chandigarh on 25-05-2026 before 11:00 A.M. Criteria: Details Nationality: Indian Nationals only. No candidate of foreign nationality is eligible. Educational Qualification: Postgraduate Medical Degree i.e. (MD/MS/DNB/MCh/DM) or equivalent in the concerned specialty, recognized by MCI and registered either with Medical Council of India or State Medical Council. Senior Residency Tenure: Candidates who have completed three years tenure of Senior Residency are NOT eligible for the post of Senior Resident. Central Residency Scheme: Senior Residency done in any Central Institution/Hospital under the Central Residency Scheme shall be counted while working out the tenure of three years (including previous experience), so that the maximum period does not exceed three years. Government Servants: Candidates already in Government service must route their applications through proper channel and attach NOC/letter requesting issuance of NOC from present employer. Selected candidates must submit their NOC within 3 days from the date of interview. Previous Dismissal: Persons who have earlier worked in this institute and whose services were dispensed with on account of misconduct or otherwise are NOT eligible to apply.
Age Limit
Upper age limit as on 01-05-2026 is 45 years for all posts (Senior Residents, CMO General Medicine & General Surgery, Resident Anaesthetist & Resident Pathologist). Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Chandigarh Administration instructions. Application fee is to be deposited on the spot at GMCH at the time of Walk-in-Interview. Applicants applying for multiple posts/departments are required to deposit the fee only once. Selection Process
Selection will be done through Walk-in-Interview. Final engagement is tenure-based for 06 months, extendable only as per the recommendation of the Selection Committee and subject to the approval of the competent authority. In case of selection through walk-in-interview, candidates must apply afresh when the regular advertisement is released. Stage 1 - Walk-in-Interview Walk-in-Interview will be held on 25-05-2026 (Monday) at 2:00 P.M. in the office of Director Principal (Room No. 210), Level-2, Block-D, GMCH, Chandigarh. Applications will be received upto 11:00 A.M. on the same day. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the Walk-in-Interview. Stage 2 - Reservation & Merit Candidates belonging to their own category only will be considered against the reserved vacancies. In case of non-availability of candidates in OBC category, candidates belonging to other categories including unreserved will be considered for appointment, only as per the recommendation of the Selection Committee. SC/OBC candidates applying against unreserved posts are not entitled to any relaxation in upper age limit.
