Age Limit
The upper age limit is 28 years as on the closing date for online applications (17/09/2026). Salary
The Technician (1) post carries Group-C, Pay Matrix Level-2 pay of Rs. 19,900-63,200/-. In addition to basic pay, selected candidates receive Pay and Allowances such as House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Travelling Allowance at Central Government rates applicable to CSIR employees at the place of posting. Other benefits include Leave Travel Concession, reimbursement of medical expenses, and Children's Education Allowance, as per CSIR rules. Accommodation may be provided as per CSIR Residence Allotment Rules, subject to availability (HRA is not admissible where accommodation is provided). New entrants are covered under the National Pension System (NPS). CSIR also offers career advancement opportunities under its Assessment Promotion Scheme for Technical & Support staff.

Selection Process
Selection for CSIR Technician (1) posts follows a multi-stage process: • Applications received within the stipulated period are screened by a Screening Committee. • Candidates recommended/shortlisted by the Screening Committee are invited for a Trade Test, which is qualifying in nature. • Candidates who qualify the Trade Test appear for a competitive written examination comprising Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III. • Minimum threshold marks for the Trade Test and each paper are fixed by the Selection Committee. Paper-II and Paper-III are evaluated only for candidates who clear the Paper-I threshold. • The final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.
