Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Policy Division, New Delhi has released a recruitment notification for the post of Special Public Prosecutor (SPP), CBI - to conduct trial of Lokpal-referred CBI cases. Eligible candidates can apply online only, through the prescribed proforma and online link before 08 October 2026 (all four locations).

- The following eligibility criteria apply uniformly to all four CBI Special Public Prosecutor advertisements: • Educational Qualification: LLB. • Enrollment Certificate as an Advocate with the Bar Council. • Experience at the Bar of handling criminal matters in Sessions Courts. • An unconditional willingness/consent to work on the general terms & conditions approved by the Government of India from time to time. • A minimum standing of 10 years as an Advocate is required for considering an advocate for CBI Special Public Prosecutor, along with details of important criminal cases handled by the applicant. • Experience in conducting trials of cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, is a mandatory pre-condition. • Eligible candidates shall be required to be stationed at the place where the concerned Court is situated. No travelling allowance or reimbursement of travel expenses shall be admissible for attending the Court.

Selection Process
Applications are submitted online along with the prescribed proforma and supporting documents; only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interaction by CBI. The proposal for engagement is also subject to approval, as recorded in the prescribed proforma, from DOP/CBI, the Director, CBI, and the Learned Attorney General.

The complete application, in the prescribed proforma format, along with the requisite documents, should be submitted through the online link for the relevant trial court location. • Incomplete applications and applications submitted offline shall not be considered. • No application shall be entertained by CBI if submitted after the last date of submission. • Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interaction by CBI. • The last date of receipt of online applications is 08 October 2026 for all four locations (Lucknow, Jabalpur, Ghaziabad, Coimbatore).
